SRM Spotlight ~ Chef Walter Lofton

Walter

Volunteering in Colorado Springs is something Walter Lofton knows a lot about.  He has dedicated his time and knowledge to so many individuals and families through his work at Springs Rescue Mission.  Walter serves as the Executive Head Chef and the SRM Food Service Manager.

With 25 years of rescue ministry experience Walter Lofton has spent the last 8 years as head chef at Springs Rescue Mission (SRM). Utilizing his vast experience in the Culinary Arts, Chef Walter has developed SRM’s current food service program, which feeds thousands of hungry people every year.

In addition, Chef Walter has developed, through community education resources, a state of the art certified culinary training program. The Culinary Arts Program of SRM provides essential job training for men in the Mission’s life recovery center.

Included in the visionary progress, Chef Walter has paralleled a catering operation, establishing a resource of experience for students in the Culinary Arts Program. “The Box Lunch and Catering Program”, serves the community as an option for other non-profits and has become a viable resource in funding.

“My passion centers on using food service and education as a tool to better people lives. Whether preparing to feed hungry people or teaching the art of Culinary, food service advances people’s lives in a positive direction. I love teaching people and helping people move forward more satisfied in life.”  ~Chef Walter
