SRM Spotlight ~ Donations In Colorado Springs Are Changing Lives

Robert Worrall is Spring Rescue Mission’s Donations Driver Coordinator.  As a graduate of the New Life Program, he is now a committed staff member working daily with men devoted to the same path of following God.  As Robert coordinates donations in Colorado Springs we honor him for being an asset to the SRM team!

From his perspective there are two kinds of stories to tell; those of people who donate to us, and clients to whom we give our donations to. They are both powerful. The best stories often represent where Christ’s hand was evidently involved.

Here's what Robert shared with us from the perspective of a donor:

Countless donors have told me often how they love giving to our Ministry because they are aware of who we are, what we do, and believe deeply in our work. Donors feel blessed to support us because we give our resources FREE of CHARGE in order to adequately help those in need.  Our heart to give generously inspires them to give also.

I also receive positive feedback from donors as they interact with the men from our New Life (recovery) Program who pick up donations from their house. They comment on the servant heart exhibited as these men show great respect while in their homes. What a testament to the spiritual success within the New Life Recovery Program.

There is a population within our donors who have found themselves in the same situations of poverty they now give towards to help. Since they have experienced hard times themselves they feel the urge to give back. Many of these same donors were helped by Springs Rescue Mission and give back to us in return of the favor.

A more memorable of these recent encounters was a mother of three young daughters. They handed me a card from their Grandma. It read – “dear grandkids, grandpa and I decided to send you each $50 so you could get what you want for yourselves, but we think that you should remember this has been a tough year, and you might wish to spend some for a gift for another child who won’t get any presents this year.  Jesus loves us when we help other people.

The blessing in all this was that each child decided to spend all the money – not some of the money – but all of it from Grandma and Grandpa on toys for other children in need. They delivered the lot to us and asked that we give it to who needed it most. We did just that! They were all smiles.  ~Robert Worrall
